What kind of businesses do you work with?

We work with a broad range of company types [small start-ups, large corporations, nonprofits, B2B, B2C and more] across many business industries [technology, food, apparel, health + beauty, camps, travel, finance, arts, fair trade, and more.]

Over the years, we’ve helped businesses improve customer service, market their products, and attract customers. Functionality requests range from basic to advanced. Our team takes the time to get to know your industry, organization, and competitors to ensure your site supports all of your goals.

How much does a website cost?

The cost of a website can vary depending on various factors, just like the cost of a house may vary. We don’t offer “Packages” – because we believe in customizing each project for every client including pricing, it is to ensure it is in line with the client’s needs and priorities – with the end goal in mind of helping them grow their business without risk.

How long does it take to build a website?

Our standard websites take approximately 45 days to create. Our E-commerce (online store) websites take approximately 90 days to create. This time will vary from project to project dependent on complexity.

Who will I work with during the project?

This is a great question to ask and you should ask it of any web design and development firm you are considering. Many firms will farm out work to freelancers or interns. Some firms give little or no access to client’s who want to speak directly with their designers or developers. Our clients work directly with our tight knit crew of 5. Who that will be depends on your project needs and what stage of the process you are in during the project.

What platform do you build your websites on?

We build websites on the open-source Content Management System (CMS) platform called WordPress and Also Shopify (for E-commerce Websites)

Do you work with other platforms like Joomla, Drupal?

No. We are exclusively a WordPress firm. In choosing to build with one platform over the past 10 years, we have become experts in WordPress and can create extremely custom solutions for our clients.

Can you help me update my existing website that another web firm built?

No. We only support websites that we have fully built. We have this policy so that we can 100% stand behind everything that we craft. There are issues of liability of multiple programmers touching the same code over time.

Can you help me write content for my website?

Yes. We include copy writing and editing in all of our proposals. We also build your sitemap and help structure the foundation of your website in the planning stages.

Do I own my website?

YES! Everything that we build will be 100% owned by you. Most of our clients stay with us for the life of the website. Our team is just irresistible that way. But if for any reason you decide you want to take your site to another hosting service and get another company to service the site, we will happily assist you in making the transition as effortlessly and efficiently as possible. The website is yours after all, and we want you to take it wherever you go.

Where is my website hosted?

The company we use for web hosting is a datacenter called www.freeparking.co.nz. However, if at any time you wish to move to a new web firm + web host, we will package up your site at no cost to send to the new firm. Though at that time, we will no longer be able to support your site.

How is the project managed?

The project will be managed with a custom timeline/checklist so you know exactly what is happening every week – the lead developer will also send weekly progress reports to update you on progress, and to hold you accountable for your to-do list.

When Is Payment Required For Your Web Site Design And Development Services?

For small projects, 50% of the estimated fee must be provided prior to beginning work, with the remaining payment due upon completion of the project. For larger projects, an initial payment representing one-third of the estimated total fee is required. The second payment is required upon the halfway point, with the final third due upon completion of the project.

What are the phases for developing a website?

All projects are different for every client, the stages in the project process are normally confirmed after the first meeting once the scope of the project is determined. But the basic stages are as follow:

  • Planning: I discuss with the client what she is looking for in a new website. The client chooses a domain name (if one is not already registered), and opens a web hosting account. The client tells me the project specification, and we clarify any remaining questions and options.
  • Development: I build the website. This includes creating any needed content types, user roles, and test users, as well as installing and enabling modules. If the client has requested that I design the website, then I install and possibly customize a theme. When the website is functional, I make it available to the client on a staging server, for review.
  • Feedback: The client confirms that the website incorporates all of the requested functionality, or identifies any discrepancies, which I then fix. The website is then complete.
  • Launch: I deploy the website to the client’s server. The website is then “live” on the Internet.
  • Promotion: To increase the new website’s publicity, the client may at this point use a variety of online marketing techniques. This may include hiring me to write and distribute an online press release, announcing that the new website is open for business. At the very least, a link should be published on a known web page, so search engines can find a new website and index it.

Why is it best to develop a website in phases?

Years of experience have shown that large projects are best created in phases:

  • The success of each phase allows both parties to verify that the project is on track, and to know what is the next step.
  • At each stage, both parties have tangible proof of commitment, in the form of completed work.
  • After each phase, both parties have a chance to provide timely feedback, thus minimizing risks and maximizing both parties’ engagement in the process.
  • Overall website delivery is faster, because some parts of it can be launched while others are in development, thereby preventing a single part from stalling the remaining parts.
